Manufacturing Engineer – Hybrid

Sojo Industries (“Sojo”) is a fast-growing industrial automation company that utilizes robotics, mobility, and modularity to deliver efficient packaging and assembly solutions to the food and beverage industry.

Sojo has built and designed a sophisticated SQF-compliant facility in Pennsylvania (“Sojo Sprint”) across its ten automated lines to support a variety of packaging materials and capabilities. Sojo has also built out a second Sprint location in Redlands, CA to support its growing business with Fortune 500 customers and leading beverage brands. In addition, Sojo utilizes its proprietary mobile manufacturing offering, Sojo Flight, to eliminate freight costs, labor costs, packaging costs and harmful emissions while delivering on-site packaging services. Sojo has aggressive growth plans for the remainder of 2023 heading into 2024, and is looking for hard-working, curious, and most importantly dedicated individuals to join our incredible team.

The Sojo team is comprised of seasoned executives and operators from the food and beverage industry and customers include Fortune 500 brands, distributors, and manufacturers.

Job Role

The Manufacturing Engineer will directly to the Chief Technology Officer. They will be a key member of the team responsible for new equipment startups across all Sojo Sprint and Flight locations and the sourcing of materials and equipment to support new lines. This position will assist with vendor management, equipment startup and training, and they will own aspects of project implementation from initial development through pass off to the local Operations team. They will also support plant Operations by troubleshooting equipment issues and working on continuous improvement projects.

Responsibilities

• Source and install new production equipment for Sojo Sprint and Flight operations
• Assist with the design and layout of Sojo manufacturing locations to optimize and improve throughput and efficiency
• Recommend and implement upgrades to secondary packaging automation lines and factory equipment to increase throughput and improve OEE
• Successfully pass off new equipment to local Sprint and Flight operations teams after startup
• Provide hands-on support and onsite vendor management for equipment implementations
• Manage installation crews made up of Sojo employees and external vendors
• Oversee vendor activities before and after project installation and ensure they provide equipment that aligns with the specifications outlined in the contract
• Provide and update useful documentation for engineering, operations, and non-technical teams alike
• Engage with Sojo Maintenance for routine and ad-hoc repairs

Basic Qualifications

• 2-3 years’ experience in a fast-paced engineering or project implementation environment
• Self-motivated, high performing individual working with minimal oversight
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical prints
• Basic experience in troubleshooting automated factory equipment including but not limited to industrial robots, conveying systems, packaging machinery, and vision systems
• Basic understanding of process flow of automation systems
• Hands-on mechanical ability
• Basic electrical troubleshooting skills
• Knowledge of safety practices for working with factory equipment
• Excellent communication skills
• Willingness to travel up to 60% or more depending on location

Preferred Qualifications

• Past experience as a project or automation systems engineer
• Mechanical layout and drafting in AutoCAD
• Basic Allen Bradley PLC Programming and troubleshooting
• Basic FANUC Robot Programming and troubleshooting
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $64,000.00 – $76,000.00 per year
