A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an established HR Advisor to join our team in Aberdeen.

Working as a Human Resources Advisor you will work as part of the Human Resources function to provide business focussed solutions and recommendations across the Energy and Resources portfolio. You will be accountable for delivering high quality HR services to your own portfolio of client sites, whilst supporting strategy delivery and managing union relations.

Sodexo’s Energy & Resources team serves clients across specialist industries: oil & gas; mining and engineering; construction plus other energy sectors.

We have a dedicated team of 1300 employees working at over 35 sites in the UK & Ireland region – often in isolated locations both on and offshore.

Onshore and offshore operations are coordinated from our Energy & Resources segment headquarters in Aberdeen, Scotland.

A solution orientated mindset, proven competency at an HR advisory level, strong resilience and excellent communication skills would stand you in good stead for success in this position.

Role Responsibility

Employee Relations

• Support resolution of grievances, investigations and disciplinaries by coaching Managers to ensure that these matters are handled in line with best practice and employment legislation.

• Assist management with redundancy consultations including preparation of announcements, advice on selection process, preparation of redundancy calculations, support with meetings, preparation of letters and re-deployment to ensure compliance with best practice and employee legislation.

• Liaise with union representatives to effectively manage issues that members have raised with them.

Compensation and Benefits

• Provision of information regarding Maternity, Paternity and Parental leave policies.

• Support managers with compensation issues with reference to COTA rates where applicable.

Absence Management

• Collaborate with managers to support them to manage short and long-term absence effectively.

TUPE Co-ordination and Advice

• Coordination and advisory support with TUPE process including liaising with competitors HR personnel and consultation with employees and union representatives.

• Checking of HR information and letters provided by the central team HR team for accuracy before they are sent out.

Resourcing

• Collaborate with Managers and Logistics regarding manpower planning and recruitment requirements and advertise vacancies accordingly.

• Review CV’s and assist with interviewing to help select the best talent for each position.

• Preparation of contracts of employment and provision of employee information to payroll for entry into HR system.

Talent Management and Employee Engagement

• Provide support to centralised benefits team with talent management and employee engagement initiatives such as service awards and Spirit of Sodexo nominations.

• Organisation and facilitation of employee focus group meetings.

The Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience in an advisory HR role is essential.
• CIPD qualified including Chartered membership of the CIPD or equivalent.
• Previous experience of working within the offshore and energy sector.
• A sound understanding of the principles of good HR practice and employment law.
• Proven ability to prepare written reports.
• Organised and methodical with a high attention to detail.
• Good IT skills with experience of HR and T & A systems and spreadsheet analysis techniques.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Demonstrable knowledge of managing contracts of employment and terms and conditions.
• Numerate with ability to work with pay rates, pay scales and percentages.
• Previous experience of working within a unionised environment is preferred.

Circa £34,000 – £35,000 Depending on Experience
