The ideal candidate will work both independently and collaboratively with a team to develop embedded firmware and software support tools for intelligent, PLC- and microprocessor-based products and electronic systems used in electrified vehicles.

Provide critical technical support for multiple projects, taking ownership of the software designs and seeing them through to completion.

Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, systems engineers, production, and service to provide software support throughout the product life cycle including developing software technical specifications and documentation.

Immediate opening for a Software Programmer / Software Engineer t in Cullman, AL who possesses :

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar engineering discipline with three to seven years PLC or other embedded programming experience.
• Experience with CODESYS or similar PLC integrated development environment (IDE) highly desired.
• Must be skilled in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) / workflow management software preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE :

• Programmable logic controller (PLC) software design for energy system controllers and test fixtures.
• Working knowledge of power electronics and control logic components.
• Experience with automotive and industrial communication protocols and related standards such as CAN, Modbus, SAE J1939, RV-C, NMEA 2000, Bluetooth, TCP / IP, etc.
• Participate in product software design lifecycle including requirements, design, implementation, testing, debugging, integration, documentation, and maintenance.
• Experience with other software languages such as Python and C an asset.
• Working knowledge of software configuration management and associated best practices.
• Responsible for preparation of clear, concise, software documentation and customer-facing technical materials.
• Interface with customers to understand problems and applications, use feedback to generate and drive new product design requirements.
• Provide engineering support to production, sales, and operations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for documentation creation, discussions, correspondence, etc.
