Summary:

Responsible to use personal experience while following company protocols to bring new products from the drawing board to production.

Job Duties:

• Design and implement hardware systems and components for SmartCover’s IoT wastewater collection system monitoring products for use in harsh environmental conditions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, mechanical, electrical engineering and manufacturing
• Research and evaluate new technologies and design approaches
• Write, review and approve hardware design documentation
• Mentor and train junior hardware engineers

Requirements

Job Requirements:

• Experience building PCB schematics and PCB designs / layouts
• Experience designing battery powered, low power, IoT/communication electronics
• Experience troubleshooting electrical systems and use of standard laboratory test equipment
• Strong understanding of hardware design principles and practices
• Experience designing products for manufacturing
• Experience creating engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, s and plans
• Ability to quickly grasp complex technical problems
• Must be highly motivated, self-directed and able to work in a team environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• A background in applying electrical safety principles
• Knowledge of FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis)
• Knowledge of satellite / cellular communications systems
• Knowledge of design for EMC
• Knowledge of design for Intrinsic Safety
• Knowledge of NFPA 70 National Electrical Code

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in hardware design and development
• Additional years of experience in lieu of a degree in hardware design and development

Physical Demands:

• Body Positions: Includes standing, sitting, walking, lifting (up to 60 lbs), talking, hearing and handling.
• Work may be indoors in a temperature-controlled environment and outdoors in a non-controlled environment.
• Typical noise level is low to moderate.
• Can work under deadlines.
• May require travel dependent on company needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
