Purpose of the position
Reporting to the Manager, NPI and Sustaining, you will be part of a cross-functional team working on the design, development, and manufacturability issues of new products.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide leadership of new product designs to manufacturing.
• Ensure timely planning and development of design reviews and design data to support product manufacturability.
• Management of transition plans and processes to internal or external manufacturing centers.
• Develop production ramp plans in conjunction with manufacturing locations.
• Develop processes to support products manufactured by original equipment manufacturing (OEMs), original design manufacturing (ODMs) and contract manufacturers, including transfer procedures and volume production planning.
• Assessing vendor capability and qualifications.
• Performing other duties upon request.

Education and work experience

• Certification as an engineer or technologist in industrial, mechanical or manufacturing disciplines.
• Five or more years of relevant experience in a design or manufacturing environment introducing new products to manufacturing.
• Experience in Project Management.
• Experience with production operations specific to electronics, metal fabrication and plastics injection moulding and other manufacturing processes.
• Experience in DFM, DFMA and DFX is a definite asset.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work and succeed in a team-based culture.
• Experience with MS Excel, MiniTAB and MS Project.

Supervision

• This position has no direct reports.

Working conditions

• Office-based role, fast-paced work environment.
• Required to travel up to 25%.
• This role may require a background check to confirm engineering credentials.
