Sko-Die Hiring for Manufacturing Engineer at Morton Grove, IL Full Time

Job Functions:

• Be able to produce process drawings for customer specific parts, along with detailed Manufacturing Process Instructions for use in the shop using CAD system and other computer programs.
• Design opportunities will be present as job progresses and the Tooling Manager will develop and provide training in the design of fixtures and/or light die design using Solidworks.
• Developing of Manufacturing Process Improvement documents for the company.
• With training be responsible for customer engineering changes and blueprint revision notifications.
• Maintains and reviews the Press Specification list.
• With Training able to access and use ERP System mfg software program.
• With training estimates tooling and production costs using customer information, material and labor costs and any outside source work. Inputs all information in ERP System including prices and sources.
• Be able to read and interpret customer prints.
• Participate in Lean Manufacturing meetings and contribute to 5 “S” best practices.
• Participate in online learning thru TMAnet.com metalworking training program.
• Follow all applicable safety policies and procedures when working in the plant.
• (May) observe a setup and/or tryout of a newly developed die in a production machine to determine need for re-design or readiness for production use.
• (May) project related work to specific customers and/or jobs. e. researching different steels used and processing. Researching different equipment needed mainly for new business and/or new/existing customers.
• (May) Travel to customers & vendors (Chicagoland area or Midwest) and/or Trade Shows.

Job Requirements:

• Proficient in Solidworks, Excel, Word, and AutoCAD.
• Requires a B.A. in Mfg Engineering or equivalent, and 5 Years’ experience in a metal stamping environment.
• Accommodation as required for reading computer screens and documents.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands: the employee is subject to:

• High noise levels from operating machines and physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
• Breathing fumes, dust and mist; and skin exposure to oils and cutting fluid.
• Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
• Exert 10 to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
