The office engineer (OE) acts as the assistant to the project engineer. On jobs which do not have a project engineer, the OE will directly to the project manager or project superintendent as determined by the project team. Responsibilities of the position are similar to the project engineer; however, requirements of the job or the experience of the individual preclude him or her from taking total responsibility. Depending on the size and complexity of the project, there may be one or more office engineers.
