About our role

• Food Manufacturing – Significant Growth & Expansion Project
• 12-month Fixed Term Contract – with view to extension paying up to $120K+ package
• Based in Bathurst, NSW – Relocation assistance provided

Based at our food production facility in Bathurst, NSW, a fantastic opportunity exists for an experienced Draftsman to join the team initially for a 12-month Fixed Term Contract (with view to extension to 2-3 years). This role provides a diverse range of responsibility and challenges that consist of a significant growth and expansion project for the Bathurst site including new and modified process lines commissioned on time with full production rates achieved in accordance with the project schedule.

What you will do

Reporting to the Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the design of new process lines to the site. You will also act as Project Coordinator to lead execution activities for the project.

• Develop a level zero cost estimate from preliminary drawings to evaluate the project’s worth. Compiles all Simplot standard bid sheets from the existing bid information to ensure that all bidders bid the same quantity.
• Performs drafting/designing using CAD as needed with emphasis in process equipment layouts. Develops drawings, preliminary through construction and P&ID’s for the process. Uses drawings to develop complete bid sets.
• Acts as liaison with other departments regarding the drafting/design function. Assists the Project Engineers and Project Manager by determining resources, collecting field data and information; assisting in developing scope. Interfaces with various levels of managers and coordinates to determine scope of work and drafting time involved.
• Follows up upon completion of the project to look for ways to improve the next project. Coordinates construction with contractors. Maintains contact with manufacturers, suppliers, and vendors. Interacts with engineers and contractors at various levels to clarify design concepts and makes recommendations regarding modifications.

About you

• Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite.
• AutoCAD and/or 3D modelling software.
• Solid financial acumen.
• Ability to effectively build rapport, communicate with and work cohesively with employees at all levels of the business – management, staff and shop floor personnel.
• Well-developed organizational skills, with the ability to successfully meet competing deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the writing of technical reports.
• Team focused and ability to relate well in an operationally diverse work place environment.
• Experience in working with multidisciplinary projects.
