SillaJen, Inc. is one of the leading biotech companies in the development of oncolytic vaccinia virus immunotherapy. It is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, has a research center in Pangyo, South Korea, and a subsidiary company in San Francisco, CA. SillaJen, Inc. is conducting a Phase 2 trial for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma with the company’s lead pipeline, Pexa-Vec in the US, Australia, and Korea. The company is also developing intravenous injectable oncolytic vaccinia virus pipelines, SJ-600 series, to be more applicable and efficacious against various tumors. In addition, SillaJen, Inc. newly added BAL0891, a mitotic checkpoint inhibitor, as another pipeline in Oncology. The company recently started a phase 1 trial with BAL0891 in the US.

Job Description

We are looking for a US/Canada-based experienced Business Development Consultant for a stand-alone position who can identify and pursue and evaluate new business opportunities that align with the company’s strategic objective. The ideal consultant will be identifying potential partnerships, collaborations, and acquisitions that can help the company achieve its growth targets and expand its reach. The goal of this position is to maximize the business opportunities of the company’s assets.

Responsibilities

• Primary responsibilities for executing out-licensing & in-licensing activities including financial analysis
• Develop new geographical markets and pursue out licensing contracts in new markets
• Position s directly to the CEO
• Identify and evaluate potential acquisition targets or licensing opportunities that align with the company’s strategic goals and long-term vision.
• Lead negotiations with potential partners, including assessing the value of a deal, performing due diligence, and structuring the deal terms.
• Establish and manage partnerships with other biotech companies, academic institutions, and research organizations.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including potential partners, investors, regulators, and industry influencers.
• Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends and opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Collaborate with other members of the executive team to ensure that business development activities are aligned with overall company strategy.
• Collaborate with other departments within the company, such as R&D, and regulatory, to ensure that business development activities align with broader company objectives and priorities.

Qualifications

• Strategic thinking: The ability to develop and implement long-term strategies that align with the company’s vision and mission.
• Business acumen: Understanding of the biopharmaceutical industry, including the regulatory environment, market trends, and key stakeholders.
• Financial analysis: Ability to perform financial analysis and modeling to evaluate potential business opportunities and make data-driven decisions.
• Negotiation skills: Experience in negotiating complex deals with partners, investors, and other stakeholders.
• Relationship building: The ability to build strong relationships with key industry players, potential partners, and stakeholders.
• Communication skills: The ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with both internal and external stakeholders, including presenting business cases to executive leadership.
• Problem-solving: The ability to identify potential challenges and find creative solutions to overcome them.
• Risk management: Ability to identify and mitigate potential risks associated with business development opportunities.

The consulting rate for this position is $115 – $150 per hour DOE
