Functional Software Testers Needed for New Development Work

Sigma Resources is adding a team Software Testers of various skill levels in the greater Harrisburg area. These are multi-year project positions serving one of our growing and long-standing clients. Sigma resources is an E-Verify employer, encourages applicants from all work authorization types to apply, and does provide sponsorship. These roles are primarily remote but must be local to the Harrisburg area or willing to relocate to the area for occasional on-site needs, should they occur.

We work with CPTs, OPTs, STEM OPTs, EADs, H1Bs, Permanent Residents, and Citizens.

What Background You Should Have

• Prior Software Testing experience – 3-10 years

• Ability to support and independently complete project tasks

• Ability to identify and solve problems using analysis, experience, and decision making

• Ability to create test scenarios and test cases using requirements and design specifications, coming up with test execution plan, executing test cases and analyzing/effectively articulating defects during review process

• Strong end-to-end knowledge of SDLC (software development lifecycle) in either waterfall or Agile/DevOps methodology

• Strong experience with test planning, test design, test execution & test ing as well as experience in coordinating testing and test artifacts across various phases of testing (e.g.. System Integration Testing, UAT, Regression, etc.)

• Strong communication skills, both written and oral and ability to work in team setting

• Thorough knowledge of Defect life cycle and experience in defect creation, tracking, and prioritization

• Ability to describe and explain defects logged during testing using the test management tools and methods and their application

• Ability to articulate first-hand knowledge of at least 2 manual testing tools such as Jira, Jama, Zephyr, Microsoft Test Manager, Rational Quality Manager, HP ALM

• Ability to multi-task & support multiple priorities / multiple deliverables

• Demonstrates accountability and contributions to the successful realization of self and team goals

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Strong insight into transportation domain or any other public-sector offering

• Testing certification from reputed organization such as ISTQB or CSTE

• Knowledge of test data management practice, hands-on experience with SQL queries and ability to coordinate test data across teams

• Experience testing data conversion scripts migrating data from a prior system to a new system

• Experience testing batch jobs via a batch scheduler and/or the confirmation of batch process output including form/letter/ generation, data extract/import and/or data updates

• Automating test cases using test automation framework with automation tools such as UFT or Selenium

• Familiarity with testing Interface / API services

• Knowledge with working with IBM z/OS mainframe systems

• Facilitation of defect triage meetings and/or experience supporting User Acceptance Testing, interacting with client business and other non-technical staff
