Sigma Recruitment Looking for Contracts Engineer at Cardiff Full Time

Contracts engineer required to join an established specialist engineering firm that has been in business for close to 70 years. The company provides a solution-led service to its customer base which is a mix of some of the largest companies in the construction sector and recognisable local companies.

The contracts / project engineer will work as part of a small team overseeing projects from initial inquiry through to delivery. The role will involve travelling to customer’s sites for the initial consultation, undertaking 3D design work, providing quotations and liaising with the customer and internal team throughout the project lifecycle.

Contracts engineer responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking customer meetings, usually at their site / facilities to discuss their requirement
• Consulting with customers to provide solutions for them
• Producing 3D CAD drawings / renders
• Providing full quotations for customers using in-house tools
• Undertaking site measurement procedures as required
• Providing the company workshop with detailed drawings
• Project management of the full project lifecycle including keeping customers fully up to date on progress
• Attending site to oversee installation for some larger or more complex projects
• Producing method statements and risk assessments where required.

To apply for the contracts / project engineer position, you will need:

• Strong engineering knowledge and skills with the ability to provide a solution-driven service to meet customer’s needs
• 3D CAD experience with steel / structural steel products, ideally with Autodesk Inventor
• A relevant engineering qualification (HND, HNC, etc.), preferably gained via an apprenticeship route (although degree-qualified candidates will be considered)
• Good project management skills
• Experience in being customer facing
• Experience in generating quotations
• A full UK Driver’s license

In return, the contracts engineer will receive a salary of £45,000-£55,000 (dependent on experience) + a company car / car allowance, pension, potential bonus, etc.
