As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a key member of a dynamic team of IT professionals responsible for providing full-stack development, consisting of analysis, design, implementation, testing and on-going support and enhancements to SIF’s software applications and systems. You will also provide mentoring/coaching to other members of the Software Delivery team, as well as participate in a consultative relationship with internal and external stakeholders in developing technical and business solutions.

We’ll be looking for YOU to:

• Create source code and associated unit, component and integration tests that contribute to loosely coupled, highly cohesive software applications and systems.
• Participate in collaborative information/requirements gathering sessions with business stakeholders using behavioral-driven development, specification by example and documented requirements.
• Provide both tactical and strategic direction related to API development, application/system architecture and third-party integrations.
• Contribute to the development and on-going evolution of software engineering best practices, including but not limited to tool selection, coding/application security standards, and continual improvement of software delivery practices (continuous delivery).
• Utilize agile software engineering best practices, including refactoring, pair programming, Test-Drive Development (TDD) and the use of automated testing tools, e.g., xUnit testing frameworks, QF-Test, Selenium.
• Participate in a self-organized, self-directed team environment by exercising a high degree of collaboration, teamwork and personal accountability.
• Contribute to continually improving the software delivery processes, tools and relationships with all stakeholders who interact with the organization.

Your background should include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related STEM field), or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum 15 years of recent experience in a software/web development environment.
• Applied experience in an agile delivery environment utilizing a combination of Scrum, Kanban, Lean Software Development, XP or other agile process frameworks.
• Experience with a modern Integrated Development Environment, e.g., Eclipse, IntelliJ, Visual Studio.
• Working knowledge of APIs and the importance of designing to interfaces.
• Ability to develop solutions using object-oriented languages such as Java, C# and Python.
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle and MS SQL Server.
• Experience with source control tools such as Git, RTC and agile delivery tools, e.g., Jira.
