About the Role

As ShyftOff’s Director of Software Engineering, you will lead the overall management and development of software for the company as ShyftOff enters its next phase of rapid, profitable growth. You will be a highly visible member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the Founder & CEO, and responsible for collaborating with operations and marketing teams to own and develop the company’s technical roadmap.

Although this is an executive role, you will not initially manage a team, so you’ll be expected to roll up your sleeves and build. We are a small, lean team. We move fast, and we’re able to accomplish incredible feats with few resources. Although we’re well-funded and growing quickly, we expect our development team to have the same work ethic, resourcefulness, and grit. The Director of Software Engineering should be a leader who helps drive a culture of empowerment, ownership, and accountability.

ShyftOff is headquartered in Tampa, FL and we’d prefer to build the team locally.

• You have a track record of building software end-to-end in environments of high ambiguity.

We’re looking for someone who…

• Has 8+ years of experience as a full-time software engineer.
• Has previously built products end-to-end and is eager to dig in across all parts of the software stack, including low and no code environments.
• Has a strong sense of engineering craftsmanship and a track record of building creative solutions to complex problems.
• Has an entrepreneurial spirit and is adaptable to a fast-growing environment with a high tolerance for ambiguity.
• Wants a high degree of autonomy and ownership, independently making good decisions for our customers and the business.

• You will help shape our technical roadmap by advising on architectural decisions and building new infrastructure, services, and applications from zero-to-one.
• You will push the quality and excellence bar by advocating for and practicing engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing, code quality, security, and monitoring.
• You have a passion for your craft that drives you to improve systems and code without being explicitly told.

About the Interview

Our interview process is thoughtful and respectful of your time. We will only schedule an interview with you if we are confident that you have the credentials necessary to fulfill this role.

‍The first call will be a 1:1 with our Founder & CEO. We’ll discuss your background, experience, career goals, and answer questions. We’ll both be getting to know each other.

‍Our next meeting will be in person. We’ll tour our Tampa office and you’ll spend time with the team. As a group, we will review some of your past projects to understand your track record of acting with high agency and delivering on complex technical projects autonomously.

Pay: $125,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
