Support and advocate for Shuswap families and children in collaboration with Shuswap health and social services team.

You will assist in family preservation, reunification and provide services that support the positive development for Shuswap youth and families. Your empathy and compassion are why you do what you do. It’s foundational to how you connect and build relationships.
What Will You Do?
ing to the Social Development and Housing Manager, you will work and build relationships with Shuswap Band team members, Chief and Council, community members and all members of the Secwepemc Nation.
You will provide in home and family support and education. You will liaise with internal and external agencies to navigate social systems and programs.
You will integrate Shuswap culture and values into day-to-day practises.
Responsibilities
· Advocate for members needs and provide referrals for services that help improve day-to-day functioning and overall quality of life for Shuswap families.
· Help families navigate child welfare, social assistance, and educations systems.
· Maintain caseload notes and complete paperwork and other administrative duties.
· Participate in the delivery of formal parent education programs.
· Participate and support community strengthening nights.
· Build and maintain relationships with youth and families. Support and maintain ongoing interaction.
· Facilitate groups for all ages, working on developing life skills such as budgeting, basic parenting, family relationship building, etc.
Qualifications
· Knowledge of Secwepemc culture and Shuswap community.
· Models and lives a health lifestyle.
· Certificate or diploma in health or human services programs.
· Minimum 2 years experience working with First Nations in a human services or support role.
· Proven ability to work in a team setting. Self driven with minimal supervision.
· Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
· Holds and has maintained a valid driver’s license and has access to a personal and reliable vehicle.
· Can provide a current criminal record including vulnerable criminal record check.

Schedule. Compensation. Conditions of work
This is a full-time, year-round opportunity starting as soon as possible. We work 32.5 hours a week.
This role requires availability to work on evenings and weekends.

Salary: $26.00-$29.00 per hour
