Salary: £11.79 per hour while Training.
Rising to £12.73 per hour / £23,834 per year
plus night shift allowance of £93.90 per week
Earnings potential in excess of £29,000 per year
Benefits: Excellent Benefits Package, to include enhanced pension and 33 days pa leave allowance
Shifts: Days, Monday to Friday during training
Nights: Monday to Thursday, on completion of training
Hours: 36 hours per week plus overtime
Duration: Contract to permanent
Start date: November 20th 2023

Any background considered with proof of basic mechanical skills and tool familiarity is highly beneficial. Individuals that have had basic mechanical training or experience outside of the workplace

The largest Freight and Logistics Operator on Earth, Building and Maintenance of Rail Freight Wagons in Stoke for over 50 years.

Position Summary:
* A rare and exciting opportunity for aspiring mechanics to train and ultimately work on Rolling Stock in Stoke-on-Trent.
* Candidates with the skills to undertake a role such as this in the rail sector are limited so we are aiming to bring new talent into the industry.
* We are therefore providing a rare opportunity for aspiring Fitters to train and commence work, to include on job training and mentoring
* The role will commence on £11.79 per hour whilst under training, this will include 2 weeks detailed engineering tutorage before proceeding on the shop floor to put this new found knowledge into practise
* The initial 2 weeks training is followed by a further 10 weeks hands on learning.
* During this time you will be mentored and monitored with success at the end leading to a permanent position, earning up to £29,000.00 per year.
* Completion of the training will earn the educational equivalent of an NVQ Level 1 in Engineering Competencies
* This is an excellent opportunity to gain technical access in to the Rail / Rolling Stock Industry whilst working for a highly regarded, World Leading Manufacturer of Rolling Stock Freight Vehicles.

Person Profile/Experience:
Do you know what a screwdriver, a spanner or a torque wrench is and what they are used for? Are you an energetic Team Player with some technical capability?
* If you are comfortable in working with tooling, machine operation and not phased around working within a busy manufacturing environment and looking for a career opportunity then contact us.
* You will be able to show an aptitude for undertaking numerous responsibilities as this is a varied role which will include the full strip, refurbishment and rebuild of Rolling Stock Rail Wagons and their associate bogies, axles and wheel sets.
* Having a great work ethic and attitude to work is what we are looking for as the training will help take care of the rest for you to succeed

Key Criteria:
* Familiar and comfortable with using basic hand tools
* Some experience in a mechanically biased role, would be advantageous but not essential
* IT Literate
* Team Player
* Excellent work ethic
* Flexible attitude to working hours
* Good sense of humour
* Physically fit, this role will involve lifting and movement of some heavy parts and materials
