Overview

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Controller will provide senior level Accounting and Financial management to this rapidly growing business. The controller with establish internal budget controls, perform financial planning and analysis, preparing documentation and presentations for investors.

Job Responsibilities

The Controller will report to the Chief Operating Officer. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of US GAAP accounting and have an appetite to build scalable systems and processes at a fast-growing startup. You will be instrumental in building out a new function at the company and will work cross functionally with senior leadership to design processes that fit their business.

In collaboration with an outside tax and audit partners, the Controller will support in annual tax filings.

Independently, the Controller will need to perform the following functions:

• Manage all daily accounting operations including Billing, Payroll, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
• Direct cash accounts management including reconciliations
• Maintain vendor relationships
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Prepare and maintain employee records in payroll software
• Develop and direct the preparation of company budget and financial forecasts and report variances
• Oversee the monthly close process to issue timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
• Create and implement accounting policies that fit our business ensuring tight controls across the organization
• Lead the implementation of accounting and reporting systems as necessary
• Oversee general accounting function including but not limited to: revenue, balance sheet, fixed assets, summarized account information and trends
• Serve as the point of contact between accounting function and all business units
• Over time, hire and lead an Accounting team

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience; current experience as a Controller or Accounting / Finance department leader
• Experience with Inventory Management Software a must
• Proficiency in MS Office application plus MS Excel (pivot tables, vlookup, etc.)
• Experience with a Factor a must
• Demonstrated experience in an apparel, retail, or similar consumer goods company
• Experience in a high-growth startup environment is highly desirable. Current/recent experience establishing, overhauling or building significant accounting department functions from scratch
• Superior communication skills, strong attention to detail, and excellent technology skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
