The Finance Advisor within Shell Energy Australia is a highly commercial role supporting a dynamic Gas & Power Trading organisation. Working alongside the commercial team, you will contribute to realising value from current and future opportunities whilst effectively managing and mitigating the associated risks.
What’s the role?
The Finance Advisor will be responsible for a variety of activities/opportunities focused largely on supporting and assuring a strong control framework, quality performance management, and bringing financial acumen to deals, investments, and complex contracts.
We will be looking to you to:
Deliver the full suite of Finance support (including tax, treasury, accounting, and structuring) autonomously, and coordinate the involvement of other Finance subject matter experts as required.
Independently ensure that a proper functioning control framework is in place and that risks are properly understood, reflected, and managed.
Independently ensure value and risks are made transparent and understood in both decision making and performance management.
Ensure a fit for purpose performance management system is in place.
Ensure Mandate, Manual of Authorities, Deal Approval Process, and other Investment standards are understood and complied with.
Contribute to key external compliance requirements in collaboration with the Shell Trading Network Compliance team.
Lead and/or contribute to continuous improvement activities.
What we need from you?
We are looking for CA/CPA (or equivalent) qualified Finance professionals with experience which demonstrates:
Skill across the spectrum of Finance competences key to a Gas & Power Trading business, including commercial and accounting aspects of financial instruments, working capital, and reporting.
Strong analytical skills specifically around valuation and risk, and ability to assess and support business decisions in a trading context.
Ability to gain the confidence of various internal and external parties, building on strong knowledge and understanding of the business drivers, value, and risk.
Problem solving mindset with the courage to ensure professional financial rigor is applied to commercial decision-making process and risk management bringing analytics and insights to the table.
Project management skills and flexibility given support across multiple activities.
