ShearWorx Hiring for Heavy Equipment Operator (Birmingham, AL) at Birmingham, AL Full Time

Shear Worx has an immediate opening for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for running a 250 or 350 sized excavator with shear attachment. Employee will be preparing (cutting up) scrap metal to a size that is acceptable to the steel mill of the customers choice. The primary material to be prepared will be steel rail cars but will also include aluminum rail cars and miscellaneous “yard-scrap”.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must Have:

• Experience running an excavator with second member Shear attachment (this is a must have)

• Understands the limits & safe operation of a Shear

• Working knowledge of the metal preparation process

• Provide personal transportation, if travel is necessary

• Willingness to travel at times (Company reimbursed Fuel, Hotel, & Food)

• Have the ability to be reached (Cell Phone)

Nice-to-Have:

• 5+ years’ experience working with Rail Cars

• Possess leadership skills (2-4 people)

• The ability to operate related equipment (Material Handler, Forklift, Excavator w/ Thumb, & etc…)

• Mechanically inclined w/ ability to diagnose minor mechanical issues

• Ability & Knowledge to change more mechanical repair components

• Working understanding of Hydraulic systems on equipment

COMPENSATION RANGE:

$750 – $1500 Weekly (based on experience)
