Service Specialists employment agency is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer for a rural utility company based in Ridgeland. This successful individual must be well-versed in all aspects of financial management ranging from simple accounting to broad investment and banking operations. The ideal candidate will be an excellent leader since all relative departments of the organization will be under their command. Must have extensive Quickbooks experience! ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Produce payroll in accounting software
• Send direct deposits into Wells Fargo website
• Cut paychecks and direct deposit payments and create and maintain payroll reports
• Figure payroll tax and ACH it to IRS through Wells Fargo website
• Cut payroll deducts check
• Figure and send 401 k employee and employer amounts
• Log payroll amounts in payroll log
• Ensure the confidentiality of payroll records and personnel information
• Ensure that correct deductions are made for each employee and distributed to the proper

accounts

• Figure, file and pay state sales, use and withholding tax once per month
• Figure, file and pay FICA and Federal income tax after every payroll
• Figure, file and pay SUT A and FUT A taxes once per quarter along with filing 941

(payroll tax) return once per quarter and filing 940(FUTA) return once per year

• Go thru all payable invoices, make sure they are approved by the appropriate authority

and figure account distributions to departments and companies

• Review each invoice to make sure it’s a real expense and properly priced
• Enter the invoices into the accounting system
• Print checks, sign checks, give them to CEO for review, approval and signature. Once

signed, stamp each invoice paid, record the check number, make necessary copies, file
those copies and mail the check.

• Review and distribute expenses to departments/companies/events for each employee with

a company credit card expense report

• Create and maintain monthly account payable reports
• Pay bills once per week on Wednesday and also on the 1st business day of every month

as a rule, but pay bills off schedule as needed

• Monitor credit card use
• Figure amounts and create retiree invoices in accounting system on 1st day of month
• Once per week- apply receivable checks to the proper account or invoice in the

accounting system and mark invoices paid, then write up a deposit slip and have mail
delivery person deposit at the bank the next day

• Review accounting, deposit entries and write up deposit slips, have mail delivery person

deposit the next day

• Maintain an accounts receivable invoice log
• Balance accounts receivable account on last day of month and print appropriate reports
• Send out late notices when invoice is 60 days old
• Create and maintain monthly accts receivable reports
• Monitor balances of accounts
• Create and enter adjusting entries at the end of each month
• Enter year-end entries supplied by auditor
• Maintain and secure past years general ledgers
• Monitor operating bank accounts for balance and invest money when balance reaches a

certain limit and there is no upcoming expenditure. When cash gets low, may need to
break a commercial paper investment to improve cash flow

• Monitor the investments to ensure that we received them on the proper date and with the

proper amount of interest earned

• Perform bank reconciliations monthly
• Monitor and order all building cleaning and paper supplies
• Monitor and order all office supplies and computer equipment. This includes all

janitorial, meeting, and general employee use supplies

• Set up vendor accounts and request and monitor use of all company vendors including it

consulting, telephone consulting, plumbers, HV AC, building security, general
maintenance

MISCELLANEOUS:

• Monitor gas card and auto service usage by employees with company vehicles
• Prepare monthly income statements for CEO and department heads
• Maintain past years accounting records and purge when appropriate
• Monitor security of companies ( 4) documents and computer server.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 – $160,000.00 per year
