The role will be based at our offices at 2-4 Cockspur Street, London, SW1Y 5BS, in central London. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the line manager.

Summary

The SFO supports the UK’s prosperity and global market position by promoting stable business conditions through investigating and prosecuting serious and complex fraud, bribery and corruption and money laundering. Our mission is to reduce the harm caused by high level economic crime, and preserve and enhance the reputation of the UK as a safe place to do business. We do that by taking on a selected number of large complex cases for investigation and, where appropriate, prosecution or judicially supervised disposal. We also pursue criminals for recovery of unlawful financial gains. We are unique in that we both investigate and prosecute offenders and have special legal powers to enable us to do this.

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Serious Fraud Office and help shape and deliver our learning and development strategy as we prepare for the next three years of our Strategic Plan, adopt new ways of working and ensure our people are supported in meeting the challenges that our work brings.

Reporting to the Division’s Head of HR, and supported by a small Learning & Development team and colleagues across the organisation, you will provide strategic direction and leadership in the setting of a Learning and Development strategy to develop our current and future workforce and work with others to deliver that strategy.

You will engage with peers within the HR team, colleagues at all levels across the SFO, and with peers across government L&D.

Responsibilities

• Lead on the development of SFO’s Learning and Development Strategy
• Work in partnership with senior leadership teams to identify SFO’s capability needs and take action to address these
• Lead on the provision of all learning and development activity across SFO including design, delivery, quality assurance and evaluation of the programmes, ensuring a professional, flexible and responsive approach
• Ensure there is an effective evaluation strategy in place, with appropriate metrics, providing assurance to the Board that capability building requirements are being met
• Act as Deputy Chair of the Training Committee
• Leadership and management of the L&D Team
