About You

You have a keen understanding of public sector demands and a desire to influence key stakeholders both within the Business Unit and to the broader teams. You possess strong financial and management accounting experience.

You have experience working in a project or contract-based environment.

You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish positive, long-lasting relationships within the business and influence key stakeholders and vendors. Ability to influence both within the BU at a cross functional level, and the broader ASPAX team and various Share Services teams.

About the Role

The primary purpose of the role is to be responsible for the continuous improvement of the financial reporting, financial planning and analysis and control environment for the Justice and Immigration business unit. This role is accountable for ensuring the timely, accurate and insightful delivery of financial information to key stakeholders within the BU / Division. It will also be instrumental in supporting the Finance Director to identify and implement business unit efficiencies and support organic growth and new business opportunities. The Head of Finance has a direct reporting line to the Finance Director (FD).

The Head of Finance will ensure the delivery of insightful, accurate and timely financial information for the Business Unit (BU) and wider ASAPC division. They will be responsible for setting and monitoring AFBP delivery/performance, creating process standardisation and efficiencies across the BU. As well as, responsible for the delivery of all month end requirements, including but not limited to flash results, BUPR, rolling forecasting, risks and opportunities and monthly contract performance reviews. The Head of finance will develop a suite of financial and non-financial KPI’s & lead indicators to understand and drive performance.

Other key responsibilities for the role include:
Lead and drive robust budgeting and forecasting cycles for the BU, and assist with the annual strategic planning process, as well as identifying trends, risks and opportunities.

Responsible for ensuring compliance with the DAM, GFCM, accounting policies and standard processes as set by the division and group, escalating any issues of non-compliance to the FD and providing practical recommendations for resolution.

Leading the quarterly balance sheet review process.

Responsible for identifying and leading ad-hoc initiatives and efficiency programs as agreed with the BU FD.

Provide support for bid submissions, organic growth opportunities, contract transitions and operational contracts as required.

To be successful you will have:
Qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 years PQE in a comparable role Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to positively influence others at all levels within the business Demonstrated strong financial and management accounting experience, ideally in a project or contract-based environment Critical thinker – must have the ability to identify and assess a potential opportunity / threat considering a range of possible solutions. Ability to work effectively under pressure and to deadlines, autonomously and within a team – be proactive. Provide leadership and guidance to the broader team as required, creating a culture of trust through constructive feedback and empowerment. Demonstrated ability to manage complexity in a rapidly changing business environment and to actively drive change through innovation and continuous improvement Ability to apply strategic business acumen to identify value creation opportunities Is able to identify business implications in complex data or information. Is able to understand and influence business drivers that contribute to value. Is able to interact at all levels and with different cultures. Strong problem solving and analytical skills Exposure to large ERP systems (particularly SAP ECC/BPC/BW) would be preferred
