*About us* Sequoia Children’s Center is a small child care center in Redwood City, CA. We are professional, collaborative, engaging and our goal is to provide outstanding early childhood education to the community. We are excited to announce an opening for an experienced full-time teacher for our acclaimed Pre-Kindergarten program. Sequoia Children’s Center is a high quality, NAEYC accredited, preschool and childcare center, enriching children’s lives and families in the community since 1985. The environment is specially designed, with age-specific furnishings, a children’s garden and park-quality playground, nestled within an established Redwood City neighborhood. The curriculum is play-based and also includes kindergarten readiness components, with a parent partnership focus and NAEYC best practices in place.. Our work environment includes: * Casual work attire * Relaxed atmosphere * Professionally designed classroom and outdoor areas Qualifications: · BA in Early Childhood Education, or related field, is preferred, with a minimum of 24 ECE units. · Minimum of 2 years teaching experience, preschool setting. · Hold a California Child Development Teacher’s Permit, (or apply within one month of hire). · Hold a Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certificate (or obtain within one month of hire). · TB test and Health Screening · Fingerprint Background Clearance. · Take Infectious Disease Prevention training (to be completed within one month of hire). · Continue ongoing training during the course of employment. (Workshops; leadership training and growth opportunities are available during paid in-service teacher days.) · Able to lift 30 pounds chest high; bend, kneel & sit on floor, for working with children. Key Responsibilities: · Interact, observe and support children’s growth. · Develop, plan and teach weekly curriculum with co-teacher, and help to supervise indoor and outdoor activities. · Actively promote the preschool’s philosophy and mission. · Maintain respectful interactions with children, parents and other teachers. · Assist in maintaining a safe clean, nurturing and organized environment. · Demonstrate proficiency in the understanding of stages of development, and communicating progress with parents. · Observe each child’s daily activities, collect and record pertinent information as needed, such as daily s. · Demonstrate effective communication skills (verbal and written English), positive outlook and flexibility with curriculum and schedule changes. · Mandated er. · Responsible for following all licensing and NAEYC accreditation regulations in the classroom.
