About the Role

Sense is recruiting for a Director of Data, Insight and Technology in Selly Oak, Birmingham on a hybrid basis. This is an exciting new role focused on embracing, leading, and advancing the strategic direction of the Data, Insight & Information Technology function. Reporting into the Group Director of Finance and Resources, this role will be a vital member of the Executive Team. You will be responsible for building a data and insight function, and leading on our information technology and information systems that support Sense’s strategy and shape Sense’s digital transformation. We’re looking for an outstanding leader to drive change and transform the way we use technology to support our strategy and culture at Sense.

The main objectives of the role are as follows:
Design and deliver an ambitious digital transformation strategy supporting Sense to reach its strategic goals

Develop and deliver a data driven and digital literate approach across Sense, ensuring we continuously improve as an evidence-based organisation

Analyse and evaluate data to generate performance insights and measurement approaches for each part of Sense

Lead the IT function in supporting all our work

Be responsible for collaborating internally and externally to support digital transformation

Key Responsibilities:
Create and support an environment of digital innovation and best practice, ensuring the use of technologies for the benefit of our colleagues and the people we support

Create and implement a Sense Evidence and Insight Strategy

Develop, manage, monitor, and implement a digital and technology strategy for Sense in line with organisational values

Elevate the digital skills of our colleagues

Provide inspiring leadership to the team to deliver exceptional performance

Manage IT systems within the organisation including deployment development and upgrading of hardware and software

Source new hardware and software and ensuring its smooth implementation

Take responsibility for all cyber security arrangements in the organisation

Take responsibility for oversight of data integrity and processing so that data is accurately and efficiently processed, accessible, suitably categorised and adheres to required standards

Skills and Attributes:
A proven track record in data, digital and technology leadership in a complex environment

Knowledge of qualitative/quantitative/mixed methods research skills, including ability to analyse, review and critically appraise data

Success in collaborating with business leadership and demonstrating the value of technology across a complex organisation

Ability to comply with the principles of GDPR and knowledgeable in information security standards

Deep understanding of current and emerging technologies and best practices

Well-versed in all aspects of system development, deployment and support, and a proven leader managing in a mission-critical systems environment

A demonstrable commitment to enabling an inclusive and diverse workforce

A commitment to people with complex communication and Sense’s vision and values; a willingness to learn how to communicate with people with complex communication and identify the barriers to their participation in all aspects of Sense’s work
