Job Summary

This is a senior, hands‑on engineering role intended exclusively for experienced DevSecOps and platform engineers who have operated complex systems in production environments. It is not suitable for junior, mid‑level, or aspirational candidates.

You will personally design, build, secure, deploy, and operate mission‑critical systems where downtime, misconfiguration, or security failures have real‑world consequences. As the platform and service mature, this role may be required to support an on‑call operating model, providing expert‑level response to incidents affecting system availability, security, or performance. In addition, from time to time the role will contribute to corporate IT activities, including supporting internal platforms, tooling, or security initiatives, where deep technical expertise is required.

Key Responsibility Areas

Build and operate hardened Red Hat Enterprise Linux platforms across geo-redundant datacentres.

– Automate infrastructure using Ansible, Bash, and Python at scale.

– Design and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines well beyond template configuration.

– Operate Kubernetes and OpenShift platforms, including security, networking, and failure recovery.

– Run Pacemaker/Corosync clusters and diagnose split-brain, fencing, and quorum issues.

– Configure HAProxy in active/active and active/passive configurations.

– Design platform-level routing using BGP/BFD (FRR or equivalent).

Backend Engineering (Mandatory)

– Design and implement RESTful APIs in Go and Python used in live systems.

– Enforce strict API versioning and backward compatibility.

– Implement meaningful automated tests (unit, integration, security).

– Build services that are observable and diagnosable under failure conditions.

Security & DevSecOps

– Apply OS, container, and application hardening aligned with UK security standards.

– Actively operate SELinux in enforcing mode.

– Integrate SAST, dependency scanning, and image scanning into CI/CD pipelines.

– Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and remediation.

Enterprise IT & Microsoft 365 (Required)

– Administer Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.

– Design SharePoint permissions and information security controls.

– Support identity and conditional access policies.

Required Experience

– 3+ years in a production DevOps / DevSecOps / platform role.

– Strong, demonstrable Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience.

– Production Go and Python backend development.

– Kubernetes or OpenShift operational responsibility.

– Experience in regulated, audited, or mission-critical environments.

Required Qualifications

· Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional (JNCIP)

· Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)

· Red Hat Certified Specialist in Security

Prerequisites

1. Right to work in the UK

2. Must have or be eligibility for SC clearance

Pay: £70,000.00-£90,000.00 per year
