A bit about the role

To provide commercial insight and own end-to-end business partnering and finance support for the four physical stores, their operational and leadership teams and the Executive Director for Stores.

The Stores Finance Manager will also partner on the strategic direction of the stores within the context of the overall business strategy, helping to turn direction into a financial plan which can be measured against. This will not be limited to financial targets but will also focus on customer and service objectives.

You will own the budgeting, forecasting and month end processes, alongside trade support, business case management, commercial analysis and balance sheet management.

The Stores Finance Manager has a team of three analysts of varying levels of experience and will be responsible for their development and performance.

Purpose

The Stores Finance Manager will look at performance versus budget and forecast, and drive understanding of the key drivers of the results with the stores operational teams and with the FP&A team and Finance Leadership team.

For all areas of responsibility, focus will include managing the month end process with your team, owning the P&L lines and Balance Sheet reconciliations and presenting this back to senior management and finance colleagues.

The role will help identify opportunities for productivity and help the business gain insight into the operational targets and how they translate to the financials.

Leading on business cases and ah-hoc analysis this is a true value adding role which can make a considerable contribution to the business success

Key Responsibilities:

• Review, analyse and provide insight and recommendations to the senior teams to drive sustainable performance improvement
• Lead the stores finance weekly trade review process and feed into the senior finance team for group and wider trade performance reviews
• Participate in month end reviews with Finance Director and lead reviews with key non-finance stakeholders to understand the overall performance in the period and YTD vs. key benchmarks, highlighting risk & opportunities
• Deliver monthly exec summaries of productivity challenges, providing understanding and analysis to support performance and assumptions of risk & opportunities.
• Review and manage relevant balance sheets to understand the asset & liability position, using this to identify any risks/opportunities
• Take ownership of and produce detailed budgets and a re-forecasts, engaging with the relevant budget holders, supporting and challenging as appropriate
• Supporting the Finance Analysts’ growth & development through on the job training & coaching in order to help them maximise their contribution to the business and progress to Finance Manager level in time
• Continuously develop and update the management information provision to key partners in the business

• Have a recognised accountancy qualification
• Well developed interpersonal skills to influence team and stakeholders
• A high standard of accuracy with excellent attention to detail
• Commercially aware with the ability to appreciate impact of decisions on the financials
• Highly organised and efficient
• Ability to work under pressure; manage a diverse and competing workload and to ensure that deadlines are met
• PC skills (excel/ word/ powerpoint/MI tools)
• Flexible and able to work in a changeable, dynamic environment
• Proactive – responsible for management of own priorities
• Gravitas – personality to deal with and challenge senior stakeholders
• Experience of accounting for projects across both capex and opex
