Position Description

Job Title: Implementation Specialist

Classification: Exempt

Department: Education

Reports to: Director Education

Location: Oakland or Los Angeles

Principal Purpose of Job: Plans and coordinatesimplementation of education and training programs for healthcare workers represented by SEIU UHW-West and other union members who are eligible for Education Fund services.

Level of Authority: Performs duties independently and in conjunction with a team, setting priorities and scheduling own work under the general direction of the assistant director or program manager, and in accordance with organizational policies and procedures

Work Environment: Work is performed in a complex setting both inside, and outside of the office, with frequent adjustments and the need to deal with a diversity of people and tasks. Position requires frequent visits to external collaborators and students, in addition to travel to training locations, some of which may include overnight trips.

Essential Job Functions

• Work with Outreach team to develop recruitment plans based on knowledge of employer facilities — their employees, work culture, union characteristics and the labor-management environment (i.e. Newsletter, Email Blast etc.)
• Collaborates with Ed Fund on outreach, recruitment, and enrollment for programs

• Screens applicants for basic eligibility, collects and analyzes relevant data
• Develops and maintains good relationships with educational vendors
• May participate in initial negotiations with educational vendors leading to contracts that will be reviewed and approved by Director before being submitted for the contract approval process
• Works with Education Fund staff, vendors/instructors, employers and union representatives to implement training programs and program logistics
• Develops recruitment materials, within the guidelines established by management, and subject to review and approval by management
• Makes presentations with regard to Education Fund programs to targeted workers, managers and educational vendors
• Maintains required documentation of education and training programs such as learner handbook, orientation video, email templates, and make use of the online platform tool Live Binder.
• Submits regular written reports and ensures compliance with program requirements and goals
• Work in conjunction with program department assisting with the implementation of programs and projects; including planning, developing, implementing and evaluating programs and projects.
• Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the assistant director or director of the program

Additional Job Functions

• May work with internal/external staff to conduct survey of learners academic readiness and/ skills, using digital survey tools.
• May assist with recruitment of participants for, and facilitate, worker committees set up to promote the work of the Education Fund.
• Bring forth ideas that provide insight to our department, professional development of the staff, and positive health of team.

Qualifications and Capabilities

• Minimum of one year experience planning and implementing educational or training programs preferred.
• Proficient use of basic Microsoft Suite, Salesforce, or other CRM systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience within a union and/or healthcare environment preferred.
• Must be committed to working within a labor-management partnership environment.
• Familiarity with project management concepts
• Strong leadership, critical thinking, coordination and organizational skills, are necessary.
• Flexibility regarding schedule and assignments
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• Professional demeanor with the ability to create rapport with a diverse group of members and partners
• An automobile, California drivers’ license and auto insurance are also required.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to drive and move from one site to another for extended periods of time.
• Ability to sit at a work station for extended time periods.
• Occasional ability to lift, carry equipment or packages weighing up to 35 pounds
