ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for our first finance hire that will roll up his/her sleeves to build our financial infrastructure in order to provide insightful recommendations and direction alongside leadership. You need to love making order out of chaos, have an affinity for working with bright, entrepreneurial team members with a bias for action, and be a creative problem solver that is comfortable being hands-on and wearing several hats. As a member of the leadership team, you will touch all aspects of the business and help us keep our eye on the big picture.

• build out systems and processes to support strategic decision making?

IDEAL CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

• 3-5+ years of experience in accounting or finance related role with exposure to systems/operational optimization and decision-making analysis

• BS in Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred

• Advanced Excel skills with ability to analyze large sets of data

• Industry experience in either online media, publishing or marketing with a proven track record of executing cross-functional project management

• Comfortable working in a dynamic growth environment – ability to swiftly make decisions with inconclusive data and where no precedence exists

• Excellent written and verbal skills – can summarize complex concepts for non-finance people

• Extremely detail oriented with an ability to multitask cross department projects

• Metrics-driven in your decision-making, always striving to improve existing processes

• You work best in a highly collaborative environment

• You can think on your feet and have a willingness to own problems

• Comfortable working in a dynamic growth environment – ability to swiftly make decisions with inconclusive data and where no precedence exists

CORE DUTIES

• Prepare monthly financial reporting, including budget to actual variance analyses

• Develop and prepare bottoms up annual operating plan and forecasts, including revenue modeling

• Drive and implement automated processes and systems to maximize data and recommendations to leadership team

• Review monthly results and explain variances to budget, prior year, prior month, and rolling forecasts.

• Prepare reports to be included in leadership presentations.

• Continuously seek opportunities to maximize revenues by researching price discounting activities, pricing discrepancies, billing variances, etc., and provide solutions to the leadership team.

• Perform various and frequent ad hoc analyses as requested by partners or the leadership team.

• Consolidate and analyze financial data (budgets, income statement forecasts etc) taking into account company goals and financial standing.

• Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance.

• Develop financial models, conduct benchmarking and process analysis.

• Conduct business studies on past, future and comparative performance and develop forecast models.

• Identify trends, advise, and recommend actions to partners or leadership based on sound analysis.

• Consult with leadership to guide and influence long-term and strategic decision-making within the broadest scope.

• Drive process improvement and policy development initiatives.

• All fiduciary responsibility such as tax compliance

• Manage all financial advisory (part-time bookkeeper, tax accountants)

Pay: $100,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
