To support the implementation of Scotland’s STEM Education and Training Strategy by contributing fully to Education Scotland’s national STEM programme and by leading Education Scotland’s STEM activity within the Northern Alliance.
Job description
- Working with Education Scotland’s team of STEM Officers, develop, coordinate and deliver STEM professional learning, including subject-specific professional learning, to meet the needs of practitioners across a range of sectors and improve learning, teaching and assessment in STEM.
- Work closely with colleagues across Education Scotland’s Northern Regional Improvement/Locality Team and within the Northern Alliance to ensure effective support for STEM improvement.
- Support the national roll out of Education Scotland’s STEM Nation Award Programme to a range of sectors including: early learning and childcare settings, primary, ASN, secondary schools and community learning and development.
- Support ongoing delivery of Education Scotland’s Enhancing Professional Learning in STEM Grants Programme with national partners and lead on the management of grants within the Northern Region.
- Promote equity and equality in all STEM activity with a particular emphasis on improving gender balance and equality.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge and high-level awareness of current issues in education and contribute to recommendations on future strategic developments.
Responsibilities
No specific qualifications are required for this role.
Essential criteria:
1. Proven track record in leading education projects at a strategic level.
2. Able to demonstrate detailed knowledge of STEM learning.
3. Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with a range of contacts.
4. Previous experience of managing the progress and delivery of key education projects
