Scott Mission is Looking for Reheat Kitchen Support Staff Full Time

Position: Reheat Kitchen Support Staff

Status: Full Time

Primary Work Location: 346 Spadina Ave

Position Summary: This position will be based in 346 Spadina Ave, Toronto. The incumbent will be working closely in the reheat kitchen with the Welcome Center team and volunteers to provide hot meals.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee the reheat kitchen, including warming, plating, packing, serving, and cleaning up of food for all meals at the site during each shift
• Prepare coffee and snacks for staff and clients, including special events as needed
• Maintain the reheat kitchen and keep dining room and staff lounge area clean and organized at all times.
• Clean dishes and food trays, clear trash cans and dispose of refuse
• Record daily numbers of meals served to shelter residents, community dine-in, and community takeout meals for tracking and forecasting purposes.
• Track inventory and forecast meals, supplies, and other logistical requirements regarding the reheat kitchen.
• Communicate with the Operations Department for food and supply requirements in timely manner
• Sanitize and disinfect high touch surfaces, kitchen equipment, and food storage areas in the reheat kitchen and dining room areas, daily sweeping and mopping
• Greet, host, and delegate responsibilities to volunteers in the reheat kitchen and dining room
• Unload and load delivery trucks and donated items; Organize deliveries and donated goods in an orderly manner
• Support in food and clothing bank services and emergencies services as required
• Follow all food safety and health & safety policies and protocols
• Other duties as assigned

Required Experience and Education

• High school diploma and 1 year Kitchen operation experience
• Volunteer coordination experience considered an asset.
• Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures
• Excellent organizational skills and communication skills, customer oriented with a can-do attitude
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry heavy items and stand long hours
• Current Food Handlers Certificate, Health and Safety training including Standard CPR C and WHMIS.
• Ability to take direction well, aptitude to work in a fast-paced environment
• Punctual, dependable and a team player with excellent attendance record
