POSITION: Diploma Qualified Educator
STATUS: Casual

LINE MANAGEMENT:
- Reports directly to the Director of Early Years
- Works closely with the Educational Leader
COLLEAGUES:
- Immediate team: ELC Educators and other ELC staff
- Liaises with Junior School staff and all other College Employees
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Under the direction of the Director of Early Years, the Diploma Qualified Educator is responsible for planning,
implementing and assessing a program for children in consultation with the Educational Leader and other ELC staff.
The Diploma Qualified Educator will be responsible for ensuring the National Quality Standards are adhered to.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and deliver a high quality program for children in the ELC using the Early Years Framework, in
collaboration with teachers
- Plan and deliver personalised learning programs and document outcomes for children in Extended Care
programs
- Contribute to the ongoing Quality Improvement Plans of the ELC and their implementation
- Plan, monitor and implement the School Holiday Program in line with the Early Years Framework, the
National Quality Standards and the principles of Reggio Emilia
- Liaise closely with staff in the Educational programs of the ELC to ensure continuity for children in
Extended Care and School Holiday Program
- Ensure that all documentation and administrative tasks are completed fully and in a timely manner
- Assume responsibility for the day-to-day management and administration of Extended Care and School
Holiday Program, including compliance with all licencing, statutory and quality assurance requirements
- Provide an environment that values and supports children’s learning, an environment that is safe,
nurturing, inclusive, challenging and promotes a sense of belonging and self-worth
- Develop positive and trusting relationships with children, parents, carers and educators
- Write and submit an article for Cluaran magazine each year, including photos and promotion material
- Input data as required
- Monitor daily attendance and enquiries
- Ensure that staffing is compliant at all times
- Ensure that School Holiday Program is planned and published in a timely manner
- Write a School Holiday Program newsletter at the end of each S.H.P.
- Maintain adequate supervision of students at all times
- Identify and assist with the resolution of issues as they arise
- Assist the Director of Early Years to respond to all emergency situations
- Administer First Aid if required and ensure that all associated administration is completed and processes
followed
- Contact parents/caregivers if an accident, or incident arises and follow ELC procedures
- Contribute to a safe, healthy environment for staff and students through compliance with WHS policies
and other College policies
- Liaise with health professionals, such as the College Nurse, when required
- Maintain a proactive awareness of the needs of all children in the ELC
- Lead other Certificate III qualified staff in professional learning about current best practice
- Plan, in consultation with teaching staff, the physical environment required each day including the set-up
and pack-up
- Participate in Centre and College events as required
- Attend staff meetings as required
- Ensure that Cert. III staff have breaks, if required, during shifts
- Keep accurate records and write formal reports to parents
- Actively engage in professional learning
- Other duties as required

- Diploma Children Services and experience related to the responsibilities required by the position.

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
- Proven experience in working and providing excellent customer service in an Early Childhood / Child Care
setting
- An understanding of the Early Years Framework and National Quality Standards is essential
SPECIAL FEATURES OF THIS POSITION:
- Working hours will include hours outside of school hours and during School Holidays
- Participation in ELC events and other marketing events
Conditions of Employment:

- Must be eligible to work in Australia.
- Must satisfy child protection screening and adhere to Scotch’s Child Protection policy and procedures.
- Work flexible hours as required of the position including school holidays.
- Position is employed under the terms and conditions of the College’s Enterprise Agreement.
- The incumbent will undertake regular relevant training to ensure that skills are maintained or enhanced in
the relevant areas of responsibility.
- Successful applicant will be required to take annual leave during the Christmas New Year closure period as
determined by the Principal.
