JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB GOAL:

To provide an educational atmosphere in which all students will move toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and psychological growth and maturation in accordance with District philosophy, goals and objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s Degree in Education or related field.
• Three (3) years of demonstrated classroom experience; one (1) year of which was in a leadership role (i.e. coaching, team leadership).
• Possess a Valid Florida Educator’s Certificate. (include FLDOE information on your resume with certificate number, subject area, and expiration date)
• A comparable combination of education, training and experience may be substituted for minimum qualifications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of applicable policies, procedures and regulations covering specific areas of assignment. Knowledge of rules and regulations of the Florida Department of Education and other governing agencies. Knowledge of age-appropriate curriculum. Knowledge of principles and practices of leadership, school improvement, reform, professional development, instructional planning, and assessment. Knowledge of statistical software applications, databases and spreadsheets used to manage large data files. Knowledge of methods for improving student achievement in public education. Knowledge of principles of record keeping, records management, and management of confidential records.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to review and monitor school improvement plans.
• Ability to assess student instruction.
• Compile, manipulate, and analyze data.
• Administer school support programs.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers.

• Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and demands.
• Supports principals and site based leadership teams in all areas of instructional leadership based on focused instruction. This includes providing professional development; supporting the construction of the school improvement plan, supporting the use of data by site leaders and teachers, and providing one on one coaching to site leaders.
• Collaborates to develop instructional leadership team meetings. Collaborates with instructional leadership teams to identify instructional strengths and challenges of the school and particular teachers. This includes assessing school structures and processes and developing plans of support and ensuring plans are implemented.
• As an active member of a zone based team; assists in identifying strengths and challenges across the zone and plans and implements strategies to address the challenges.
• Supports building administration in all aspects of the teacher evaluation process, including classroom observations, pre and post-conferencing with teachers, analyzing data and student work.
• Ensures the implementation of focused instruction at each site.
• Works directly with academic content leads and other directors in the academic departments.
• Consults and guides the School Improvement Plan at sites. Collaborates with School Improvement Specialist to revise and review each School Improvement Plan.
• Gathers and compiles data; assists MPS staff in analyzing and interpreting data in order to implement programs to more effectively meet the educational needs of the students.
• Effectively communicates school improvement issues.
• Implements and adapts various educational support systems designed to meet the needs of staff.
• Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and district staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
• Enthusiastically promotes the Superintendent’s goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
• Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records and district information.
• Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis.
• At times may be required to work outside normal business hours and work extended hours to accomplish requirements of the position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
