TEACHER, MATH COACH
JOB DESCRIPTION
QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution.
(2) Hold a valid State of Florida teaching certificate.
(3) Minimum of three years of teaching experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of child development and especially of characteristics of children in the age group assigned. Knowledge of the prescribed curriculum. Knowledge of current educational research.
Basic understanding and knowledge of use of current technology. Knowledge of varied learning styles and skill in using varied teaching methods to address student learning styles. Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness. Ability to effectively assess levels of student achievement, analyze test results, and prescribe actions for improvement. Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn. Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators and others. Have a strong knowledge base in working with adult learners. Excellent communication skills with outstanding presentation, interpersonal, and time management skills.

JOB GOAL
To provide an educational atmosphere in which students will move toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth and maturation in accordance with District philosophy, goals, and objectives.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Assist teachers in organizing what they need to plan and carry out curriculum planning using the B.E.S.T
Standards & Alternative Achievement Standards, Grade Expectations, and item analysis of standards tested.
2) Provide daily support to classroom teachers.
3) Collaborate with the principal and the school lead team to cultivate a successful learning community.
4) Serve on the school leadership team.
5) Help identify struggling math students.
6) Work with teachers in core, tier 2, and tier 3 math instruction.
7) Work with teachers to provide effective strategies and activities for Science instruction.
8) Model effective instructional strategies for teachers.
9) Coach and mentor colleagues.
10) Train teachers in curriculum implementation, data analysis and using data to differentiate instruction.
11) Monitor and respond to school math and science assessments with the principal and lead team.
12) Work with teachers to ensure that research-based math and science programs (comprehensive core math
and science programs, supplemental math programs and comprehensive intervention math programs) are implemented with fidelity.
13) Help to increase instructional density to meet the needs of all students.
14) Provide leadership in the process of designing, implementing, and monitoring the school intervention plan.
15) May serve as the point of contact for Science related initiatives.
16) Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
