The Clinical Science Educator
The Clinical Science Educator is a remote, part-time position responsible for the development and review of ScholarRx curricular products for clinical undergraduate medical education (UME). The Clinical Science Educator works with the ScholarRx curriculum team to develop high-quality ScholarRx curricular offerings in the clinical sciences consistent with national/international competency frameworks. They may occasionally participate in virtual project meetings.
Duties
· Author high-quality written clinical education material for medical students
· Develop assessment items consistent with NBME standards
· Provide peer-review feedback for other Clinical Science Educators
Requirements
· MD/DO or equivalent degree
· Medical residency certification or equivalent experience
· Full USMLE boards certification
· At least three years of clinical teaching in a medical school or other health science institution
· Broad experience in teaching a variety of clinical topics
Preferred
· Boards certification in a medical specialty
· Clinical clerkship teaching experience
· Faculty development experience in medical education
· Objective question design experience (NBME training preferred)
· Instructional design and education technology experience
Qualities/Skills
The major key skills of the Clinical Science Educator will be to create, edit and review ScholarRx curriculum and assessment resources. Along with these skills, the Clinical Science Educator should also exhibit:
· Strong understanding of the pedagogy and content of clinical medical education
· Good communication and interpersonal skills
· Fluency with medical/scientific writing.
· Ability to manage time and work assignments effectively
· Ability to professionally interact with other educators and colleagues
Compensation and percentage time will be commensurate with experience, qualification, skills, and time commitment.
