Scarborough Public Schools Hiring for K-12 Social and Emotional Learning Specialist Job at Scarborough, ME Full Time

Description: Scarborough Public Schools is looking for a dynamic individual to work in cooperation with school staff, students, parents and community resources to design, implement, and assess professional learning opportunities in the areas of social and emotional learning (CASEL) to ensure the effective implementation of the district’s social and emotional learning vision. This is a federally funded full time position.

Requirements of Work

1. Coordinate and or provide high quality and timely professional development opportunities to all internal and external customers on a regular basis in social emotional learning with attention to diversity, equity, and inclusion

2. Professionally represent the schools and district in interactions with parents, community, staff and students and resolve conflict in a professional manner

3. Stay current on research and best practices in social-emotional learning including diversity, equity, and inclusion

4. Demonstrate continual learning

5. Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent and Director of Curriculum and Assessment

Terms of Employment: School year plus 20 days; salary commensurate with experience.

Qualifications: Education

• Candidates must have earned a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in education or a related field

• A Master’s Degree or advanced coursework is preferred.

• Knowledge and Experience
• Minimum 4 years of K-12 school teaching/counseling or related experience

• Experience and proficiency in designing and delivering professional development/training to staff in the area of SEL with attention to diversity, equity and inclusion

• Experience with restorative practices, trauma-informed practices, and mental health in educational settings preferred

• Leadership experience strongly preferred

• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills in a team-based development environment

• Excellent written and oral communications skills

• Ability to manage projects, perform a variety of tasks, to adapt to different work environments, and to meet sometimes short timelines

• Experience using Panorama Education tools, Google Workspace, and other online learning applications preferred

• Maine certification as a teacher, administrator, counselor, or related position is preferred

• Maine CHRC (fingerprinting)
