Maintenance Supervisor
at our 1 Webster Street, Brantford, Ontario manufacturing plant
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating the short-term and long-term maintenance activities of manufacturing and utilities operations for the site. The Maintenance Supervisor ensures that the finished goods are produced safely, efficiently and in accordance with SCJ quality and environmental standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Health, Safety, and Environment
Take all actions necessary for the adequate control and/or elimination of hazards in the workplace including detailed investigations for all safety incidents, including near misses.
Lead and reinforce safe work practices within their team(s) including good Manufacturing Practices and 5S, Process Safety Management System (PSM). Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory health and safety requirements.
Assume role of Incident Commander during Emergencies
Provide support, direction, coaching and training to the teams for all health and safety issues (JSEAs, workplace hazards, OPLs etc.)
Participate and support ISO audits and ensure all identified issues are resolved in a timely fashion.
Quality
Ensure team receives adequate training, education, and awareness, to maintain quality systems and to challenge individual teams to maximize percent conformance.
Follow up immediately on product notifications, expanded audits, and close out notification in SAP
Initiate Corrective Action Reports, Off- Standards etc.
Team Development
Primary responsibility for fostering, developing, and growing teams within the manufacturing environment through effective goal setting, identification of training gaps, employee coaching, conflict resolution, progressive discipline and positive recognition.
Provide direction and coaching to the team to achieve/exceed business objectives using Lean Manufacturing principles with a strong emphasis on waste identification and elimination through structured problem-solving techniques.
Working collaboratively, the team lead will ensure consistent application and adherence to company policies, procedures and guidelines, and actively participate in the performance management process ensuring equitable evaluation.
Effectively work with production teams to nurture One Team, One Purpose strategy
Coordinate all maintenance activities for work teams normally consisting of 10 to 25 employees. (work orders, vacation requests, accumulated time off, training schedules, payroll etc.).
Responsible for overall shift, and shift to shift communication to ensure alignment on priority, safety and hazard awareness, and overall sight awareness.
Business and Financial Strategies
Responsible for maximizing the use of resources to meet production requirements in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
Work collaboratively with other support functions (engineering, quality, material handling, and leadership team)
Facilitate and manage organizational improvement initiatives at the team level (e.g., Lean activities, etc.).
Thrive to control and eliminate unplanned stoppages.
Ensure consistent and frequent communications with leadership team, attending pertinent operational team meetings and escalating matters as required to ensure smooth operations.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Legally eligible to work in Canada
University degree required, Engineering degree preferred
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing supervisory position with 3 or more years directly related to the packaged goods industry
Maintain a valid First Aid Certificate & CPR Certificate
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning skills
Knowledge of the OH&S Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments
Demonstrated behaviour of the Relationship Imperatives. Excellent interpersonal skills
Have thorough knowledge of different kinds of maintenance such as proactive and reactive maintenance. Have a good knowledge of SAP related functions
Competent understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing related issues, as well as maintenance ship equipment and tools. Experienced in Condition Based Maintenance
Proven time management to balance floor and office time
