Our experienced Financial Control team undertakes all aspects of financial management including accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. Use your expertise to champion Save the Children financial policies, standards and procedures to see our managers sleep soundly, our beneficiaries well served and our donors happy with the results.

Where you come in:

In this full-time, permanent position (based ideally in Melbourne though other locations will be considered), will have flexibility to work from home or from one of our state offices. You will work on ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial information at the corporate, departmental and individual program level. The role will ensure the integrity and reliability of the overall internal control framework over our financial information, ensuring all internal and external financial policy, reporting and compliance obligations are met. You will be part of our Finance team and report to our Senior Financial Accountant.

You will make an impact by:

• Lead the coordination of Social Venture (SV) audits and support the SV finance teams with the preparation of financial statements and meeting statutory obligations
• Completion of program financial acquittals, review of audit processes and supporting the external statutory audit processes
• working closely with the Commercial Finance team to ensure end to end finance processes are efficient and effective and roles and responsibilities and deliverables (both ways) are clear, frequently reviewed, and improved
• Reviewing and developing accounting policies and provision of technical accounting advice to the business

Does this sound like you?

You will have experience in audit, having worked in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines, so you are able to manage the year-end audit process and delivery of financial statements within Board timeframes. You have experience with ERP systems, are proficient with Excel and have highly developed verbal and written communication skills. You can work closely with your team to strengthen the financial control environment and ensure Save the Children meets its donor, statutory and regulatory obligations.

This role requires:

• Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) / Certified Practising Accountant (CPA)
• Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment and to strict deadlines, ideally in external audit
• Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
