Our experienced Financial Control team undertakes all aspects of financial management including accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. Where you come in:

In this full-time, permanent position (based ideally in Melbourne though other locations will be considered), you will have flexibility to work from home or from one of our state offices. You will work on ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial information at the corporate, departmental and individual program level. The role will ensure the integrity and reliability of the overall internal control framework over our financial information, ensuring all internal and external financial policy, reporting and compliance obligations are met. You will be part of our Finance team and report to our Senior Financial Accountant.

You will make an impact by:

• Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of legal entity reporting in the ledger. Legal entity review includes all social enterprises even where they may have a separate finance team;
• Preparation of regulatory returns (e.g. Quarterly & Annual Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) survey, state fundraising licence returns);
• Support the Financial Accounting team and Finance Business Partner teams to ensure financial information for donor acquittal and program reports are completed on time, accurately and in consultation with program teams.

Does this sound like you?

You will have experience working with pressure tight deadlines, you are able to manage the completion of program acquittals and month-end activities within agreed timeframes. You have some experience with ERP systems, are comfortable with Excel and have good verbal and written communication skills. You can work closely with your team to strengthen the financial control environment and ensure Save the Children meets its donor, statutory and regulatory obligations.

This role requires:

• Good time management and organisational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and quality
• currently studying or looking to study towards either Chartered Accountant (CA) / Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualification
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment and to strict deadlines, ideally in external audit is preferred but not essential
