Are you passionate about understanding how mobile apps get created, tested, and used? Do you love explaining complex processes and concepts to others in writing and in person? Do you get a thrill from organizing content so it is easy to follow and use? The Technical Writer assigned to the Mobile team at Sauce Labs will be responsible for understanding what our customers need to know to use our products successfully. This includes working closely with developers, product managers, support engineers and designers to understand the functionality and the challenges our customers are facing as they use it.

What to expect in the role:

• Creates high quality, concise content that produces good outcomes for our customers and meets our style and organizational standards in a variety of outputs including overviews, end user and administrative guides, integration guides, API documentation, and in-app instructions, along with other feature-specific requirements
• Edits existing content as needed with the same goals in mind.
• Uses the product to ensure documentation is accurate and thorough.
• Interviews subject matter experts and works directly with the product to ensure accuracy.
• Meets the unique requirements and timelines necessary for CI/CD software development
• Manages multiple projects simultaneously
• Able to create content experiences for multiple user types

Requirements:

• Must have superior written English skills
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, English, Technical Writing, or related field
• Strong technical aptitude–ability to quickly learn new concepts and tools. Ability to analyze and synthesize complex content.
• Track record of effective collaboration.
• Excellent work ethic and strong intellectual curiosity. Desire and ability to innovate and improve upon current processes
• Either:
  
  • 1 – 3 years writing or editing content for a SaaS/cloud product
  • Equivalent experience with in a test, developer, or support role in automated testing or software development and an ability to demonstrate superior writing and editing skills as part of the interview process
• Proven ability to adapt to rapid changes to products, deliverables, and schedules
• Experience working with subject matter experts and stakeholders across different timezones

Additionally the following are nice to have:

• Experience writing code in Java, Javascript, Python, Ruby, or C#
• Familiarity with automated testing
• Experience with Markdown
• Experience with Github or Gitlab
