Saslove’s Meat Market Hiring for Customer Service/Food Preparation at Ottawa, ON Full Time

Saslove’s Meat Market has been a landmark of Ottawa’s historic Byward Market since 1954. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff have years of experience providing local chefs and consumers with the finest quality meats. We make our own sausages, marinated products, and “stuffed stuff” such as stuffed chicken breasts, stuffed pork chops and stuffed pork roasts.

We’re looking for a new member of our front counter team! Day-to-day tasks include:

• Customer service, ie. greeting customers as they come in, answering their questions, and packing their items;
• Answering phones;
• Food preparation;
• Processing sales on the cash register & debit machine;
• Packing food orders;
• Stocking shelves & pricing product.

The ideal candidate for this position is friendly, has a great attitude, and is self-motivated, organized and eager to learn. While experience is an asset, it’s not a requirement and training will be provided on the job.

Physical requirements include crouching, standing for much of your shift, and lifting up to 30 lb.

This position requires working weekends. Our current hours are 9am-5pm, and shifts are either 8 hours or 7 hours (9am-5pm).This will be a 5 shift/week (full-time) position.

There is a benefits package which comes into effect after 6 months of employment for full-time staff members. This includes life insurance, disability, health and dental.

Salary: $16.00-$18.00 per hour

All staff are required to be fully vaccinated. All staff & customers are required to wear masks in food prep/service areas AT ALL TIMES, with the exception of meal breaks for staff. Plexiglass partition between counter and customers. Regular sanitization.
