As a Software Design Engineer with the Concur Expense Engineering team, you will help deliver high availability, 24/7 Concur Expense services. Concur’s expense management platform is experiencing terrific growth. Our team is responsible for managing Concur Expense platform APIs and asynchronous expense processing. Every day, our services respond to tens of millions of API calls, process millions of workflow records, and send millions of user notifications. We work at enterprise scale on systems that make a difference for our company and for customers. As part of our team, you will build new features, address critical client-facing issues, and help design the future of Concur’s technical architecture.

What you’ll do:
Join a high-performing agile team and help refine the team’s standards and processes.

Build enhancements and new features for the spend aggregation and reconciliation microservices. Work with colleagues to solve customer issues and requests.

Work on all aspects of software development including design, development, and operations.

Build software using diverse cloud technologies such as AWS (including SQS, EKS, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, and more), Kubernetes, Kibana, New Relic, and Sysdig.

Build automation to exercise product functionality.

Ship secure, stable, high-quality code that makes a real difference for customers.

Contribute to architecture and planning for new projects and features

Assist and mentor junior team members

To accomplish this, you will need:
5+ years of professional software development experience

Experience with object-oriented programming languages: Proficiency with Java is a big plus. Familiarity with spring framework and REST protocol will be ideal. Experience with object-oriented design patterns is a must.

Experience with database technologies: Experience with relational databases is required with MySQL and MSSQL preferred. Experience with non-relational/noSQL databases is nice to have.

Experience with commercial cloud computing: Must have experience with cloud providers like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc. Experience with AWS and specifically tools like SQS, RDS, EKS, DynamoDB, and/or Elasticache is nice to have. Experience with async architecture patterns such as Pub/Sub messages is also a plus.

Desire to learn new technologies

Team player: highly collaborative, able to listen to/work with others, able to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.
