Why apply for this role?

As a Software Engineer, you’ll be a critical member of the agile engineering and architecture team to deliver a first in class service to our end customers. You will be participating in the evolution of the digital platform that will change the bank and how our customers interact with us. You’ll play a key role in making sure that our systems work behind the scenes.

It will be down to you to integrate the application with all required systems and services, providing a clean and easy to use API. Although your work is usually hidden from the user, it’s absolutely crucial as you’ll be responsible for application functionality, performance and scalability. So, you’ll need to know how to write clean modern APIs, integrate them with legacy systems and work with databases.

What you’ll be doing

• Joining an Agile Scrum team responsible for the BaaS APIs of the organisation; to build APIs that can handle thousands of requests per second in a reliable and performant way.
• Deciphering existing software systems and guiding the team as they embark on a Greenfield project to re-architect major parts of the stack away from monoliths and towards containerised microservices.
• There’s a whole host of features in the pipeline, you’ll be continually challenged and learning as part of a collaborative technology driven team.

What we’re looking for

• A Software Engineer background with strong Java 8+ development experience.
• Experienced within a microservices or DevOps environment (Docker, Kubernetes), experience in CI/CD experience would be beneficial.
• You will be experienced and enjoy working as part of a collaborative Agile team.
• Experience with modern enterprise frameworks such as Spring / SpringBoot and within a *TDD / BDD experience.
• You know how to write and utilise autonomous services oriented RESTful API services.
• Strong communication skills.
