The Accounting Manager at Sanguine Biosciences will be responsible for General Accounting across our research business model which includes early translational research product science, clinical operations, sales and marketing functions. This role serves as a consultant for managers within the organization, advising them of current budgetary information and working with managers to create a fiscal strategy that aligns with the goals of the organization. This is a senior position that is proactive and solution oriented and ready to operate in a fast-paced world of start-up accounting.

Responsibilities

· Reviewing of Financials for proper recognition and presentation, drafting of financials, preparing departmental views

· Accounting system management including COA updates, closing the period, and adding classes/departments

· Account Payable (AP) oversight including approvals (Vendors, Invoices, POs), ensuring expenses are properly classified (COA, Prepaids, Fixed Assets), preparing AP aging reports, preparing recommended payment reports, subledger reconciliation

· Account Receivable (AR) oversight including approvals (Customers, Invoices), preparing AR aging reports, collections, and subledger reconciliation

· Payroll processing (exempt, non-exempt, special, etc.), timekeeping management

· Cash flow reporting including updating cash flow actuals, monitoring cash in bank, and preparing cash flow position

· Accruals oversight including overseeing proper period recognition of expenses, ensuring accruals are properly segmented (general, legal, commissions, bonuses, PTO, etc.)

· Help develop and monitor critical success metrics, and communicate actionable insights to relevant stakeholders. Using Salesforce.com to develop business insights and feed monthly accounting reporting

· Incentive Compensation and commission calculations, reporting, and commission accruals schedule and entries

· Bonus accruals including schedule and entries

· Compliance oversight including managing and overseeing the Business License, Sellers Permit, Business Property, Franchise Tax, and Statement of Information

· 1099 oversight, including final approval before submission

· Oversight of sales tax prepayments and sales tax returns

Skills Required

· Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required

· Must have 5-8 years of accounting experience in a high growth, fast-paced environment

· Must have start-up experience

· Leadership level communication, analytical, and time management skills

· Ability to multi-task efficiently from a remote work environment

· Maintain high attention to detail and strict deadlines

· Strong understanding of corporate finance concepts and accounting principles

· Superb organizational skills and experience leading projects

· Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)

· Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills

· Operates with a sense of urgency

Preferred Skills

· MBA or other advanced degree in related field desirable; Professional certification (CPA/CA) highly preferred

· Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical experience a plus

· Experience with project accounting and sponsor’s reporting a plus

· Intermediate to advanced knowledge of QuickBooks

· Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills

Pay: $90,000.00 – $125,000.00 per year
