SGL is hiring a Junior Aeronautical/Systems Engineer to be based at the company’s headquarters in Ottawa. The position requires occasional field work at locations around the world.
Responsibilities
Exercise knowledge concerning the specification, design, integration, test, and certification of aeronautical systems and structures;
Assist in team coordination regarding the testing and evaluation required to support the development of design and its implementation in equipment;
Devise and oversee tests required to demonstrate compliance with airworthiness standards;
Generate applicable drawings and reports;
Provide assistance to the senior project engineers and CAD designers to achieve project goals;
Coordinate with the Aircraft Maintenance department as necessary on relevant aspects of design and approval duties;
Provide timely technical support to field crews as required; and
Other duties as required to complete projects.
Qualifications and Experience
Engineering degree in relevant discipline from an accredited university allowing eligibility for designation/entry into the Professional Engineer program (Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO));
Relevant education or experience in obtaining airworthiness approvals such as Limited Supplementation Type Certificates relating to modification of aircraft for airborne geophysical survey use, an asset;
Successful completion of the Transport Canada Aircraft Certification Specialty Course or equivalent an asset;
Experience or familiarity with software programming using Matlab/Scilab and/or Python;
Demonstrated project management and organizational experience as required to direct and oversee the work of engineers and CAD designers/drafters;
Demonstrated ability to liaise with various stakeholders (i.e. suppliers, vendors, aircraft certification authorities and other employees);
Excellent report writing skills;
Familiarity with CAD principles and techniques for technical drawings; and
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment; and
Ability to obtain a security clearance.
