This is an on-call/as-needed part time position scheduled
weekdays between 7:00am – 4:30pm. The incumbent can be scheduled
from 0-20 hours per week. This position is based out of
Los Angeles/Ventura.
Academy for Professional
Excellence, a project of San Diego State University School of Social
Work, was established in 1996 with the goal of

Child Welfare Development Services (CWDS) provides
workforce development, organizational support, technical assistance
and capacity building for the public child welfare staff of
Southern California counties. These services include coaching,
simulation, classroom training, eLearning and evaluation services.
Workforce development services consist of development opportunities
for new social workers, the existing workforce, supervisors,
managers and executive level leadership as well as community
partners and multi-disciplinary partners working closely with child
welfare agencies.
Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the CWDS Training
Coordinator, the Training Host is responsible for
providing general support for training operations. This includes
supporting trainers and trainees in the virtual and/or classroom
environment; managing the training environment; preparation of
training materials; and various on and off-site coordination tasks.
This position is part time, on an on-call basis, and work is
primarily in a training environment.
This position is currently virtual, requiring telework. At this
time there is not a planned date to return to in-person training.
The requirements of this position may change if in-person
coverage is requested in the future. In-person coverage
requires travel to training sites in the LA/Ventura area.
