Dispatcher Job Description
Monday-Friday 7:30am-4pm

We are looking for a reliable Dispatcher to act as a communication point for emergency and non-emergency calls. You will receive requests, transmit messages, and track vehicles. The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator and able to remain calm and composed, especially in emergency situations. You must be able to multitask as well as take the appropriate action with little supervision. The goal is to enable different parties to communicate well by ensuring the accurate and timely transmission of information.

Job Description:

● Scheduling and dispatching technicians to appropriate locations according to predetermined schedules, customer requests or immediate needs

● Relaying information such as work orders or other messages to and from work crews, and field inspectors

● Using telephones, or text messages to contact employees/customers
● Speaking with supervisors or customers to resolve problems, requests for services
● Preparing daily work such as schedules
● Preparing work orders for crew or receiving work orders from work crews
● Being in charge of communications within the company to follow policies and procedures
● Keeping and organizing work requests, customer requests, completed work requests, charges for work performed, expenses for services performed, inventory records and other information

Dispatcher Skills

● Excellent communication skills to collaborate with others under any type of condition
● Excellent clerical and organizational skills to keep track of schedules, routes and personnel
● Knowledge of computers for scheduling and other dispatching duties
● Ability to multitask with different, and sometimes conflicting, events happening at the same time
● Ability to work under stress and remain calm and to calm other people during rapidly changing circumstances
● Ability to relay information in a fast-paced environment

Dispatcher Experience

Dispatchers should have experience with working with people under stressful conditions. This usually involves two to three years of experience of progressively being able to take on harder challenges that involve remaining calm and being able to calm others while sorting out problems that arise. They should be accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment with others while multitasking several schedules and priorities at once.

Responsibilities

● Receive emergency and non-emergency calls and record significant information
● Address problems and requests by transmitting information or providing solutions
● Receive and dispatch orders for materials/deliveries
● Prioritize calls according to urgency and importance

● Use phone or computer to send crews, vehicles or other field units to appropriate locations
● Monitor the route and status of field units to coordinate and prioritize their schedule
● Provide field units with information about orders, traffic, obstacles and requirements
● Enter data in computer system and maintain logs and records of calls, activities and other information
● Proven experience as a dispatcher or relevant position
● Fast typing with experience in data entry
● Knowledge of procedures and guidelines for emergency situations
● Proficient in English (oral and written)
● Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities
● Active listener with excellent communication skills
● Sound judgment and critical thinking
● High school diploma

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 – $30.00 per hour
