About the Opportunity

MRL Global is on a journey to scale its Enterprise Level Transport Management System and Warehouse Management Systems solutions as part of its next phase of Software Growth Strategy. To support the massive growth that the business can foresee, talented software engineers with experience in working on enterprise level software are required.

As part of this project the team will be focussing on delivering backend and front-end changes to systems that support our digital cloud-based platforms. The person will be supported by a group of likeminded experienced professionals in the organisation.

Environment: You will work with other in-house developers in the planning, design, and execution of work. The company uses PHP, as well as ExtJS, Angular, REST APIs, and MS SQL as part of our technology stack.

A day in the life of a Senior Software Engineer @ MRL Global….

• Working closely with the CTO and Key Executive Management Team; including Product Managers, and Delivery Leads
• Set the example for developers to follow in terms of ways of working, standards, and practices
• Enthusiastic and positive team member with a self-directed and self-motivated attitude
• You will collaborate and problem solve issues that arise within your team
• Efficiency with time management to prioritise workload
• Strong attention to detail with an ability to see the big picture
• Rigorous focus on delivering quality

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a computer science discipline or equivalent professional experience.

• What you’ll need to succeed
• Excellent Java Development Core development skills
• 5+ years’ experience writing software
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft SQL and working with MS relational databases
• Experience in PHP and web server architecture.
• Good understanding of building and consuming REST API.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, preferably Azure.
• CI/CD development/deployment practices
• Expert knowledge and understanding of RESTful web services
• Modern software design practices
• Secure coding best practices
• Strong development testing knowledge – Unit testing, test automation
• Experience working in Agile Development teams
• Jira & Confluence experience
