Overview:

Salona is an acquisition-oriented company focused on the medical device industry and is actively acquiring medical device companies in the United States.

This position offers a unique opportunity for an experienced accountant to take on a high visibility role in a public company and transition from public or industry accounting. As the company grows through acquisition, there is substantial opportunity for growth and promotion. This role is based in Los Angeles, California.

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for key financial activities of the company including accounting, assisting with the quarterly financial statements (reported 45 days after quarter end), managing the regulatory process of the company, payment controls, organizing the reporting of subsidiary accountants and producing monthly financial reports, completing due diligence on acquisition targets and ensuring subsidiaries keep costs low. The Accounting Manager will work directly on and in the financial process to verify the validity of financial documentation and to resolve issues in a hands-on manner. This role will be working closely with and reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.

Accounting Manager Essential Functions:

• Will play a crucial role in the timely preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP, and facilitating an independent audit
• Will be responsible for coordinating timely filings with the company’s regulatory attorneys
• Will be responsible for understanding subsidiary cost structures
• Responsible for evaluating and reporting on the reporting packages from each operating subsidiary
• Will develop, document and implement standard cost maintenance policies and procedures
• Consolidate and analyze subsidiary performance
• Make entries in Quickbooks for several subsidiaries
• Provide financial analysis as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
• Identification and implementation of company profit improvement opportunities

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or other curriculum sufficient to sit for CPA exam
• Six years experience in accounting, public accounting preferred
• Manager or Senior Manager accounting experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated leadership ability, team management and interpersonal skills
• Excellent analytical and organization skills
• Deep Understanding of QuickBooks
• Knowledge of US GAAP financial statements (publishing with the SEC), experience with ASC 805, ASC 842, & ASC 740 is highly preferred
• CPA preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Strong attention to detail
• Able to work independently and as part of a team

Compensation:

• $125,000 Salary
• 150,000 options vesting over three years
