Salem Academy Charter School Hiring for Substitute Teacher Full Time

Salem Academy Charter School (SACS) is a nationally ranked urban charter school north of Boston offering a rigorous college preparatory program to 480 students in grades 6-12. For 15 years, SACS has been committed to serving the diverse population of Salem. Through a unique integration of rigorous college preparatory classes with service to the community, Salem Academy graduates informed, articulate and proactive individuals of strong character.

Salem Academy seeks teachers who believe that all young people, regardless of background, are entitled to an excellent, college-preparatory education. SACS is an integrated middle and high school, which are referred to as Lower School and Upper School respectively. Successful candidates will be experienced professionals with proven skills in problem-solving, effective communication, time management, and organization. Candidates will have experience developing a classroom culture that is positive, respectful, and inclusive of all students.

Qualifications

• Belief in the mission and vision of the school
• Ability to provide a structured, orderly, safe, and respectful environment for students
• Experience working with a diverse student body
• Interest in working collaboratively to improve instruction for all students
• Eagerness to be part of creating an innovative and rigorous middle and high school program
• Fluency in Spanish a plus

Responsibilities

• Substitute as needed in classrooms ranging from sixth through twelfth grades
• Prepare classroom materials for teachers who are unexpectedly absent
• Implement clear classroom procedures to keep students safe and on task
