Summary

Saladino’s, California’s largest independent foodservice distributor, is looking for a experienced Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant compiles, maintains and analyzes a variety of accounting data, including an accurate general ledger. Starting pay is commensurate with experience.

Essential Job Functions

· Support and promote the mission, vision, and values of the Company

· Follow all departmental procedures and company policies, including regular and reliable attendance

· Customarily and regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment

• Prepare and maintain an accurate general ledger, including monthly balance sheet and income statement

• Record and reconcile journal entries on a monthly basis, including cash receipts/disbursements, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll
• Reconcile all Company bank accounts and maintain all check registers; process all inflow, outflow and banking transactions; compute accrual entries and inventory adjustments
• Research bank-related transactions as needed
• Prepare and maintain company’s amortization, depreciation, prepaid expense, equipment, lease and borrowing schedules; prepare related reports
• Assist with preparation of all outside agency audits
• Work with Company President, CFO, Controller and external accountants for tax planning and implementation; coordinate compliance with all federal, state and local, corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes
• Prepare monthly and quarterly state sales tax reports and assure all are paid timely
• Responsible to collect, compile and reconcile all credit card purchase orders and receipts
• Maintain all corporate licenses and permits; ensure that all are current
• Assist with preparation of annual budget

· Observe safety and security procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, report injuries/accidents immediately, demonstrate safe behavior

• Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret detailed documents; ability to write reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively with inside and outside contacts
• Working knowledge of GAAP
• Excellent analytical skills; must be able to work in a deadline-oriented environment

• Exceptional listening, communication, follow through and interpersonal skills
• Effective problem-solving abilities and good organizational skills
• Ability to process and maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial information

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and various accounting software

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Accounting
• Minimum of five years related experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
