Saint Joseph’s College of Maine Hiring for Assistant Professor – Psychology at Standish, Maine Full Time

Position: Assistant Professor of Psychology for Fall 2023

The Department of Psychology at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of assistant professor with specialization in Developmental Psychology, beginning Fall 2023. The successful candidate must have evidence of potential for scholarship and excellence in teaching. The candidate must be able to teach a variety of undergraduate courses within their specialization, and preference will be given to candidates who can also teach foundational classes in Biological Psychology. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. from an APA-accredited program in psychology. Applicants who are ABD will also be considered with evidence that they will complete their Ph.D. by the date of employment. 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Doctorate in Psychology (possibly ABD) from an accredited program
• Expertise in the area of Developmental Psychology
• Enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching
• Ability and willingness to take an active role in the college community and the Department of Psychology
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience/success teaching and mentoring undergraduate students
• Ability to teach foundational classes in the area of Biological Psychology
• Familiarity with learning management systems
• Ability to use innovative technology-based delivery systems
• Interest in interdisciplinary program development
• Experience with evaluation research is a plus

Major Responsibilities:

• Teaching 12 credit hours per semester
• Holding regular office hours
• Maintaining an active scholarship program that can engage students
• Serving as academic advisor for about 10-20 psychology students
• Performing service-related activities for the department and the college
• Assisting in curricular development, possibly including the development of online classes and other learning credentials
